To help with this, we have put together video discussion guides on ELCA World Hunger\u2019s two newest videos: <a href=\"http:\/\/download.elca.org\/ELCA%20Resource%20Repository\/Robyns_Story_Discussion_Guide.pdf?_ga=2.258726543.427301667.1537188823-1341912399.1476461047\">\u201cRobyn\u2019s Story\u201d<\/a> from Massachusetts and <a href=\"http:\/\/download.elca.org\/ELCA%20Resource%20Repository\/Kanchans_Story_Discussion_Guide.pdf?_ga=2.258726543.427301667.1537188823-1341912399.1476461047\">\u201cKanchan\u2019s Story\u201d<\/a> from India.<\/p>\n<p>Each guide features discussion questions and an outline of a \u201cthink-pair-share\u201d model for conversation that can deepen your time together. Each guide also features snippets from ELCA social teaching documents that can help your group connect the stories in the videos with their Lutheran faith.<\/p>\n<p>The guides are designed for study group sessions of up to 45 minutes, though they can be adapted for shorter sessions. The information in them can also be used to guide short temple talks to highlight the work our church supports together through ELCA World Hunger.<\/p>\n<h3>Robyn\u2019s Story \u2013 Northampton, Massachusetts<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/robynpic.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4346\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/robynpic-300x222.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/robynpic-300x222.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/robynpic-250x185.png 250w, https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/robynpic-472x350.png 472w, https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/robynpic.png 658w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Hunger and poverty are symptoms of a deeper brokenness within communities that leaves many of our neighbors without access to the resources they need. Ending hunger in the long-term means both providing food now \u2013 and restoring supportive, mutual relationships for the future. At Cathedral in the Night, a ministry supported by ELCA World Hunger, guests come together for worship, prayer and food to be fed spiritually and physically.<\/p>\n<p>In this video, military veteran Robyn describes how the community at Cathedral in the Night has helped him rediscover and grow his gifts. In the process, he is able to meet his needs and emerge as a leader within the community.<\/p>\n<p>This video discussion guide focuses on Robyn\u2019s story and the challenges faced by many military veterans, who are often denied access to the services and support they need to thrive after their service.<\/p>\n<h3>Kanchan\u2019s Story \u2013 Madhya Pradesh, India<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/kanchanpic.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4347 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/kanchanpic-300x197.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/kanchanpic-300x197.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/kanchanpic-250x164.png 250w, https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/kanchanpic-533x350.png 533w, https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/52\/2018\/09\/kanchanpic.png 735w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Hunger and overall health are closely tied together. Without sufficient nutrition, children, especially, are at much higher risk of illness and death. Without sufficient healthcare, illness and injury can take time away from work and other productive activities, putting families at higher risk of hunger. Through Padhar Hospital\u2019s Tripti project, healthcare professionals and community members are working together to end this cycle for good.<\/p>\n<p>Kanchan, one of the participants in the project, shares how the project helped her get the care she needed for her son and learn how to best care for him.
