{"id":3024,"date":"2012-08-09T09:51:19","date_gmt":"2012-08-09T14:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/hungerrumblings\/?p=3024"},"modified":"2012-08-09T09:51:19","modified_gmt":"2012-08-09T14:51:19","slug":"this-wasnt-in-the-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.elca.org\/worldhunger\/this-wasnt-in-the-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"This Wasn&#8217;t in The Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">By Kristyn Zollos<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">I had a plan for this summer, and ELCA World Hunger had nothing to do with it.\u00a0 I knew where I wanted to work and everything about it seemed perfect for me and my future goals.\u00a0 In my mind, it was so clearly meant to be, that God had to have placed that opportunity into my life.\u00a0 When the opportunity was denied to me, I was devastated.\u00a0 <strong>That was God\u2019s plan for me!\u00a0 How could it have gone so wrong?<\/strong>\u00a0 There must\u2019ve been some mistake.\u00a0 I cringed every time someone told me that God had something better for me and that the opportunity I had wanted so badly was not meant to be at the time.\u00a0\u00a0 What could possibly be better?\u00a0 The only possible explanation was that God was out to ruin my plans, my life, and my goals for the future. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<em>My<\/em> plans.\u00a0 <em>My<\/em> life.\u00a0 <em>My<\/em> future goals.\u00a0 Now, almost five months later, I can confirm that the Lord was most certainly out to ruin these things for me.\u00a0 However, I say this without bitterness, but with joy and humility.\u00a0 Those things were never my own.\u00a0 They were never under my control.\u00a0 I was on my own path, wanting things so desperately for myself, that I was confusing what I wanted for what the Lord wanted for me.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Today, as I near the end of my internship I can also look back and say that in fact the Lord did have something better for me and I am exactly where I was meant to be.\u00a0 God ruined my plans and replaced them with something unexpectedly and exceedingly better.\u00a0<strong> I end this internship in awe of how God has used this experience in my life and excited for the ways I will be used for God\u2019s purpose in the future.\u00a0<\/strong> God\u2019s purpose. God\u2019s future. Not my own.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong> Lesson learned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">As you may have picked up from reading this post, as well as the others, this summer has been one filled with many realizations and deeper understandings.\u00a0 This has been brought about through discussions with co-workers, their recommendations, and research using educational tools including books, videos, and articles.\u00a0 There is certainly an endless supply of resources out there.\u00a0 So if you are not already doing so, I encourage you to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elca.org\/Our-Faith-In-Action\/Responding-to-the-World\/ELCA-World-Hunger\/Our-Work\/Education.aspx\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">educate yourself<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"> on the matters such as poverty and injustices that are taking place around the world.\u00a0 Share your resources with those around you and ask for suggestions from others.\u00a0 Go deeper by starting discussions with your friends, family, and your church.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">As you go on this journey, do not travel alone, but with the Lord as your companion, and more importantly, your guide.\u00a0 It is the Lord from whom all blessings flow and it is the Lord who calls us to use these blessings for the greater purpose.\u00a0 I can honestly say that I don\u2019t know where I\u2019m going, I\u2019m not sure if I ever have known or I ever will know.\u00a0 Life is complicated and confusing, but that\u2019s often what makes it so beautiful.\u00a0 Life and the journey I feel called to take do not have to make sense, for they are not under my control nor within my understanding.\u00a0 As Proverbs 20:24 states, <em>\u201cA person\u2019s steps are directed by the Lord, how then can anyone understand their own way?\u201d\u00a0 <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>God\u2019s blessing to you all and thank you for your support<\/strong> during this blogging adventure.\u00a0 I have truly enjoyed sharing with you, all that I have learned through this internship with ELCA World Hunger and in experiencing the incredible work being done through their efforts.\u00a0 God is certainly using the ELCA to do incredible things and we should all be excited and humbled to be a part of it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #000000\">Kristyn Zollos is an ELCA World Hunger intern<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kristyn Zollos I had a plan for this summer, and ELCA World Hunger had nothing to do with it.\u00a0 I knew where I wanted to work and everything about it seemed perfect for me and my future goals.\u00a0 In my mind, it was so clearly meant to be, that God had to have placed [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":194,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3024","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-post"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.4 -
