Perhaps the network can be thought of as a house with many rooms where people can find affinity around topics that interface with hunger and poverty in a real way. So, what do hunger and gender have to do with one another?<\/p>\n<p>Beginning tomorrow, three ELCA World Hunger Leaders, Jessica, Jen and Irma, will begin participation in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/womenwatch\/daw\/csw\/56sess.htm\">United Nations 56<sup>th<\/sup> Commission on the Status of Women<\/a> (CSW). In addition the three women above, we will be joined by two women from the LWF, Pastor Ada from Cameroon and Daniele from Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>CSW happens every year, and this year\u2019s review theme is \u201cthe empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges.\u201d\u00a0 This theme is particularly suited to the work and ministry of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elca.org\/hunger\">ELCA World Hunger<\/a> and the larger global communion of which the ELCA is a member, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lutheranworld.org\/\">Lutheran World Federation<\/a> (LWF).<\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with other ELCA colleagues and the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.elca.org\/Our-Faith-In-Action\/Justice\/Advocacy\/Advocacy-Ministries\/Lutheran-%20Office-for-World-Community.aspx\"> Lutheran Office for World Community<\/a> (LOWC), we will be participating in the Commission with the non-governmental organization (NGO), <a href=\"http:\/\/ecumenicalwomen.org\/\">Ecumenical Women<\/a>. We will also as be part of a side event about the Lutheran World Federation and ELCA World Hunger, \u201cFrom potential impoverishment to seeds of sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today through next Wednesday, you are invited to learn more and follow us right here.
