The church of Christ in every age,
\nbeset by change but Spirit-led,
\nmust claim and test its heritage
\nand keep on rising from the dead.<\/p>\n
Across the world, across the street,
\nthe victims of injustice cry
\nfor shelter and for bread to eat,
\nand never live until they die.<\/p>\n
The let the servant church arise,
\na caring church that longs to be
\na partner in Christ’s sacrifice,
\nand clothed in Christ’s humanity.<\/p>\n
For he alone, whose blood was shed,
\ncan cure the fever in our blood,
\nand teach us how to share our bread
\nand feed the starving multitude.<\/p>\n
We have no mission but to serve
\nin full obedience to our Lord:
\nto care for all, without reserve,
\nand spread his liberating word.<\/p>\n
May we have the courage to live into this ideal.<\/p>\n
