You can find the calendar of readings for Year C at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elca.org\/Growing-In-Faith\/Worship\/Lectionary.aspx\">Lectionary Readings<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>For lectionary humor and insight, check the weekly comic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agnusday.org\/\">Agnus Day.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Gospel Reflection<\/h3>\n<p>John 17 is the \u201cHigh Priestly\u201d Prayer of Jesus.\u00a0 The whole prayer might be separated into three parts: vs 1-5 are about Jesus and His Father; vs 6-19 are about Jesus and the Disciples; vs 20-26\u00a0 are about the unity of the church.\u00a0 \u201cThat all may be one\u201d has been the theme of countless conferences and programs about Christian unity.\u00a0 Despite all the energy for unity, Christianity \u00a0\u00a0 remains more like a stained glass window than a cross-etched, clear glass window on the world.<\/p>\n<p>The key phrase is\u00a0 \u201c\u2026that they may all be one.\u201d\u00a0 This article in this study uses the Lutheran Church as an example of church disunity; but the larger focus is on the whole Christian community.\u00a0 The question should not be what separates us, but what binds us together.<\/p>\n<h3>Discussion Questions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Does Jesus really mean \u201cone,\u201d as in \u201cone church?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Read Ephesians 4:4-7.\u00a0 &#8220;<i><\/i><i>There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling,<\/i><i>one Lord, one faith, one baptism,<\/i><i>one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all. <\/i><i>But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ\u2019s gift.&#8221;<\/i>\u00a0 Does \u201cone Lord, one faith, one baptism\u201d mean that the church cannot have different expressions?<\/li>\n<li>Is there a \u201cpower of evangelism\u201d in having different expressions of the Christian Church?
