You can find the calendar of readings for Year C at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elca.org\/Growing-In-Faith\/Worship\/Lectionary.aspx\">Lectionary Readings<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>For lectionary humor and insight, check the weekly comic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agnusday.org\/\">Agnus Day.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Gospel Reflection<\/h3>\n<p>Jesus prays that his followers \u201cmay all be one,\u201d which is different than being \u201cnumber one.\u201d\u00a0 His glory consists, not in distinguishing himself from others so as to draw their cheer and applause, but in forging relationships with others so as to share their lives and include them in his life.\u00a0 This is a different understanding of glory than that which boasts, \u201cWe\u2019re number one!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jesus seeks to become one with others as he is one with the Father, and to draw people into a new experience of unity with him and with one another.\u00a0 Sometimes the theological word \u201catonement\u201d is explained as \u201cat-one-ment,\u201d which points to the relational character of Jesus\u2019 work in the world.\u00a0 Jesus cultivates at-one-ment with and among people, opening his life to theirs and calling them to do the same with others.\u00a0 Christian discipleship involves dwelling in unity with Jesus, sharing his unity with the Father and forging unity with other people.\u00a0 Glory, for Christians, is not about being better than others.\u00a0 It is not about being the best, but about seeking relationships with others so as to share life together and overcome the divisions which pit people against one another in destructive competition and conflict.<\/p>\n<h3>Discussion Questions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>How and why is it often easier and more popular to strive to be \u201cnumber one\u201d in comparison to others than to be \u201cone\u201d in relationship with others?<\/li>\n<li>In what ways does the church sometimes seek to be \u201cnumber one\u201d rather than be \u201cone\u201d within the fellowship of faith and in relationship with the larger world?<\/li>\n<li>Why does Jesus\u2019 understanding of glory often seem so inglorious?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Activity Suggestions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Play, as a group, some of the games described in <em>Best New Games<\/em>, by Dale N.
