He says she backed up the accusation with a photograph taken by the laptop\u2019s built-in webcam.\u00a0 Blake denies dealing or using illicit drugs.\u00a0 He says the images show him eating candy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Lower Merion School District issued laptop computers, equipped with webcams, to all of the approximately 2,300 high school students in the district.\u00a0 School officials deny any wrong doing.\u00a0 They say they are not spying on students and only activate the webcams to help locate missing laptops.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3>Discussion Questions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Is it OK for the school district to use webcams to locate school property?<\/li>\n<li>Why would it be a problem for the school to activate the webcams on laptops they own?<\/li>\n<li>Does it matter how the school got the evidence if Robbins was engaged in illegal activity?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Scripture Texts (NRSV) for Sunday, March 14, 2010 (Fourth Sunday in Lent)<\/h3>\n<p>(Text links are to <a href=\"http:\/\/bible.oremus.org\/\">Oremus Bible Browser<\/a>. The generous father reminds us that God\u2019s love is extravagant to the point of seeming\u00a0 reckless.\u00a0 We go astray.\u00a0 But no matter how far we go, how unworthy our behavior, God longs to welcome us back into the fold.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The waiting father models how we are called to behave toward each other. \u00a0We pray, \u201cforgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors,\u201d but our forgiveness is often grudging.\u00a0 In contrast, the father clearly yearns to welcome his son back home.\u00a0 He sees the boy while he is far away and runs to him.\u00a0 The son can not even get out his well-rehearsed apology before the party is on.\u00a0 Following the father\u2019s example, we strive to forgive absolutely, rejoicing at the restoration of a relationship with someone who has wronged us.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we are like the younger son, striking out on our own, overly confident in our abilities.\u00a0 We forget how much we need the father.\u00a0 This inevitably leads to trouble.\u00a0 When that happens, we, like the prodigal, need to remember that our father is merciful and compassionate.\u00a0 No matter how far we go down destructive paths, we can find our way home.\u00a0 Mistakes are painful and costly.\u00a0 Our poor decisions cause a lot of suffering. The certainty of God\u2019s care is no excuse for failing to weigh our choices carefully.\u00a0 Still, when we find ourselves staring at a dead end, Jesus reminds us that the long journey we begin with repentance in the pig sty ends with a welcome, a ring, and a fatted calf.<\/p>\n<h3>Discussion Questions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If the father in the story represents God, what is the inheritance we might each expect?\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The family in today\u2019s Gospel is clearly wealthy.\u00a0 What could have motivated the son to leave this comfort in the first place?\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Verse 17 says the younger son came to his senses.\u00a0 What does this mean?\u00a0 Has this happened to you?\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Can you identify with the older son\u2019s reaction in verses 28 \u00ad\u2013 30?\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>What does the father\u2019s answer to his older son say to us about God\u2019s love?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u00a0Activity Suggestion<\/h3>\n<p>Design a t-shirt which communicates your understanding of this week&#8217;s lesson.\u00a0 Think beyond simply picturing a scene from the biblical story.\u00a0 Use words and graphics which would grab the attention of folks in your school.<\/p>\n<h3>Closing Prayer<\/h3>\n<p>Loving and forgiving Father God, we thank you for the rich inheritance you offer each of us.\u00a0 Help us not to squander your gifts, remembering that all we have and are comes from you.\u00a0 Call to us when we stray and bring us quickly back to our senses.\u00a0 In the name of Jesus, whose sacrifice has secured for us eternal life and a home with you, Amen.<\/p>\n<h3><span><span id=\"_marker\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Contributed by Joycelyn Breeland, Fairfax, VA. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Warm-up Question How much do the adults in your life trust you?
