16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Every year, the\u00a0<\/span>16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence<\/span><\/a>\u00a0begin on 25 November \u2013 on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and concludes on December 10 – International Human Rights Day. This year, the 2020\u00a0<\/span>UNiTE<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Campaign Theme is: “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!”<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

LWF\u2019s global communion of 148 churches, representing over 77 million Christians in 99 countries<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0is joining the UN, Member States, civil society activists and faith-based partners during these 16 Days of Activism<\/a> to raise awareness and call for action for an end to Gender-Based Violence.\u00a0<\/span>It is clear that the<\/span>\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated gender inequality and exposed other forms of discrimination and violation of women and girls’ human rights. LOWC\u2019s Program Director has helped organize, together with faith partners, several events including panels on the Shadow Pandemic: Faith actors preventing, responding, and advocating to end gender-based Violence<\/em><\/a>, and A Faith Imperative for Human Rights<\/em><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

United Nations has released<\/a> $25 million to UNFPA<\/a> and UN Women<\/a> to fund women-led projects fighting gender-based violence. Read UN Women\u2019s call to action<\/a> to respond to the surge of violence against women and girls<\/a>. UNFPA has launched its first Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) data dashboard<\/a>, a helpful resource for prevention and responses efforts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
