Did you know that the ELCA is a member church of The Lutheran World Federation? The Federation is a global communion of 144 churches representing more than 70 million Christians in 79 countries. The ELCA is the communion’s only member church from the United States. Our church is accompanying our Lutheran brothers and sisters around the world in various ways.

As an advocate for the ELCA Malaria Campaign, you also know one of those ways is through relief and development work. You might also know we accompany our companions by sending ELCA Missionaries and Young Adults in Global Mission, supporting scholarships for International Leaders  and funding Global Ministries projects. Through these connections, we are building up Christ’s global church — together!

To celebrate our global connections in Christ, ELCA congregations are invited to sponsor Global Church Sunday this fall. Congregations may choose to celebrate on one of three days: October 5 (World Communion Sunday), October 26 (Lutheran World Federation Sunday) or September 21 (International Day of Peace).

Some ways to celebrate Global Church Sunday include planning a global inspired worship service or coffee hour, invite a Missionary or Young Adult in Global Mission to speak, share inspiring global stories or take a special offering for one of the ELCA’s global programs.
