The first Sunday in Advent is just over a week away! There are numerous ways that you and your congregation can support the ELCA Malaria Campaign throughout this season.
ELCA Good Gifts
Many congregations like to commemorate the season with Alternative Gift Fairs using ELCA Good Gifts. The ELCA Good Gifts Catalog offers more than 50 gifts to give in honor of a friend or loved one. These gifts support the many ministries of the ELCA, and several Good Gifts benefit the ELCA Malaria Campaign. Mosquito nets and medical care are among the gifts that you can choose. To see all of the ELCA Good Gifts which relate to malaria, click here.
Once you’ve chosen a gift, be sure to tell the honoree. The ELCA offers printable cards and e-cards so that you can announce your gift. You can view all of the cards by clicking here. We also offer free printed cards (professionally printed on cardstock), which you can order by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 773-380-2724.

2014 Malaria Advent Calendar
Emily Harkins, Malaria Campaign Synod Coordinator for the North Carolina Synod, created a mosquito-themed Advent calendar and shared it with the Malaria Campaign staff. Thanks, Emily! This calendar would be great to use with Sunday School-aged children or youth as they learn about the ELCA Malaria Campaign.
Here’s how it works:
- Tape one quarter ($.25) on each Sunday in Advent
- Tape two quarters ($.50) on every other day of the month
- On the last Sunday in Advent, the coins will add up to $10
- $10 is enough to buy on long-lasting insecticide-treated net through the ELCA Malaria Campaign!
Would you like a PDF copy of this calendar to use in your home or congregation? If so, email email@example.com and you will receive one by email.
