Assembly News and Updates
Always Being Made New
New to the 2013 ELCA Churchwide Assembly is the introduction of the 2013 Assembly Guidebook, now available as a free download. As part of this church’s commitment to care for all creation, all assembly materials will be available electronically to the 952 voting members, saving an estimated 500,000 pages of paper.
Because iPads are the preferred device, voting members will be provided a rented tablet for use at no cost to them. Voting members are also welcome to bring their own tablets. The rented devices will be equipped with an electronic binder to conduct business.
Features of the electronic binder include: documents can be annotated and searched for key words or particular subjects or phrases, the most current versions of documents will be available and clearly distinguishable from original and earlier updates.
Voting members will have the ability to use the e-binder application for various communications related to assembly business including announcements, urgent assembly notifications, calendar of events, Twitter feed and the ELCA Facebook page.
The guidebook application will also allow voting members to electronically submit items previously submitted on paper including nominations, amendments, motions and donations.
Training on how to use the E-binder will be available onsite in Pittsburgh, through online video tutorials and through quick reference guides. Volunteers will also be on the plenary floor to help answer questions.
