2009 Conference of Bishops
More than half of the 66 bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the ELCA secretary, and five of the six bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), plus spouses and staff visited the Middle East, Jan. 6-13, 2009.

Thanks for your interest in the 2009 Conference of Bishops Academy Middle East trip blog. Dan Lehmann, editor of The Lutheran magazine, hopes to be posting regular entries here when the group arrives in the Middle East after January 6. Brett Nelson, ELCA Communication Services Video Producer, hopes to be posting video clips during the journey. John Brooks, ELCA News Director, will be filing news stories and shooting still images to share. Ben McDonald Coltvet, ELCA Web manager, and others on the ELCA Communication Services staff will be providing support “back home” to help keep this blog and the companion photo galleries as up to date as possible.

Thank you for the great coverage of the Bishop’s Academy trip. There are many back home you that will follow this closely. I think it is great the Bishop Hanson and the Bishops have made this commitment to visit the Holy Land. We pray for an educational and inspiring trip. Dave Upmeyer, SE Michigan Synod.
